Support Duxbury PD’s “Team Remy” Fundraiser!
This letter serves as an announcement of what I feel to be both good news and bittersweet news.
First the bittersweet news. On July 9th, 2020, my career serving the Town of Duxbury will come to an end as I must retire after 46 years. Duxbury is a community that I have served with a great love for my community, tremendous pride, and consummate dedication during this time. It will certainly be one of the most difficult chapters to close in my life, but I am honored to have served my community for 46 years.
Now onto the good news! As a commemoration of my 46 years serving, I will be running in the 2020 Boston Marathon along with fellow Duxbury Officer and long time friend, Officer Jim Tougas. We are running to benefit Cops For Kids With Cancer and our goal is to raise $46,000 ($1,000 for each year I served in Law Enforcement). This organization is one that I have been very passionate about and extremely dedicated to helping. As a father, the heartache and struggle these families contend with when this awful disease becomes part of their lives is unimaginable. Cops For Kids With Cancer is a charitable organization that, through numerous charity events, has been able to raise funds to assist these families with the unfathomable costs they incur while battling the disease of cancer.
Our team has one more member! We are excited to announce our team has been named “Team Remy” and our fearless captain is Remy Tufts of Duxbury. I have been honored to know the fearless Remy and his family for a couple of years now. His great attitude, strength and perseverance while he battles with the challenges of fighting cancer are certainly traits we will try to emulate as we prepare in training and then take on the challenge of the Boston Marathon.
