In Memory of Billy Coulter
Bill served on the Massachusetts State Police for over 45 years, achieving the rank of Detective Lieutenant. He was a member of the Massachusetts State Police Commissioned Officers Association. Bill was a longtime cancer survivor and passionate about Cops for Kids with Cancer, where he was the Chairman at the time of his death. His other passion was physical fitness, completing over 20 Ironman Triathlons and 150 marathons, including 36 consecutive Boston Marathons and every Disney World Marathon up until his passing. Many runners ran virtually last year to raise funds in his honor. This year we are able to once again run the live race on the course. With fewer numbers allotted due to Covid restrictions, we have to work even harder to achieve our ambitious goal. Please consider supporting one of our runners in Bill’s memory.
Cops For Kids With Cancer “Sponsored” Runners
To run in the Boston Marathon you need to have a fast enough qualifying time – or you can run for one of the official charities. As an official Charity Partner of the Boston Marathon we receive a small number of “invitational” entries to the Boston Marathon. We use these entries to recruit individual runners who pledge to raise at least $10,000 for our cause.
I ran my first marathon in 2017 and was fortunate enough to run the virtual 2020 Boston Marathon with the most supportive team at Cops for Kids with Cancer. Running in the fall around Peabody and Lynnfield was a truly uplifting experience, especially after the year everyone had had. I am honored that I have been given the opportunity to run on behalf of an exceptional charity again and hope too far exceed my fundraising goal. Thank you so much for your contribution and please know I will be thinking about each and every one of you come race day.
As a team, we have committed to raise $50,000 for the organization. With your contribution, we will be able to lessen the financial burden for families all over New England so they can focus their time and energy on their child and their battle against cancer. Please support Cops for Kids with Cancer so we may never have to deny a struggling family a helping hand.
Runners Choosing to Support Cops For Kids With Cancer
The following team members either qualified for the Boston Marathon or have received their invitational entry through a different program. Regardless of their entry type, they have volunteered to raise money for our charity. Thank you!!
Since 2013, I have run 7 Boston marathons with Cops for Kids. I am blessed to be able to turn my passion for running into something that will help children who are fighting for their health. The 2021 Boston marathon will also be my 31st marathon and not only am I running for the children of Cops for Kids but also to honor the life and legacy of my friend Bill Coulter. My fundraising goal is $10,000 with the hopes of raising as much money as possible to help kids who are fighting cancer. Any donation no matter the size is greatly appreciated and makes a huge difference!

Our Marathon Team is running in support of a great cause- Cops for Kids with Cancer a 501(c)(3) charitable organization focused on raising funds to provide assistance to families of children fighting cancer. On October 11, 2021, I will be running my 11th consecutive Boston Marathon and my 8th Boston Marathon in support of Cops For Kids With Cancer. Cops for Kids with Cancer is a phenomenal organization that focuses on raising funds to provide assistance to families of children fighting cancer, to improve their quality of life. Please help me support this worthy cause as I run the 2021 Boston Marathon with the Massachusetts State Police Team! Thank you for your support!
It seems fitting that I will be running my first Boston Marathon to honor the life and legacy of the man, that as a child, I handed cups of water to at the 16 mile mark in Newton. Over 42 years ago, Billy Coulter convinced my dad, Jay Cronin, to run the first of many marathons. Now it’s MY turn to continue the tradition. I feel blessed to be running with The Ironman Marathon Team and raising funds for Cops For Kids With Cancer.
Please help me support Cops For Kids With Cancer as I run the 2021 Boston Marathon on October 11th. This will be my second year running the Boston Marathon. I am running as a member of the Massachusetts State Police Iron Marathon Team in memory of DLT Billy Coulter. Each donation will help those families and children fighting cancer who need it the most.
This will be my second B.A.A. Boston Marathon. Thank you to everyone who contributed to my fundraiser for the 124th Marathon! I was able to run virtually in September and I am really looking forward to running the 125th on the actual course! I will again be running in memory of William Coulter on the Ironman Marathon Team. Thank you in advance for and contributions you are able to make to this great cause.

Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I have the privilege of running the Boston Marathon once again for the 5th time! After running last year’s marathon virtually due to the pandemic, I am excited to be back on the actual marathon course on October 11th! As Lt. Billy Coulter used to always say, “It is about the finish line, not the finish time!” With that being said, I am proud to be running for this charity again.
On Monday, October 11, 2021, I will be running in my sixth Boston Marathon and raising funds for Cops for Kids with Cancer. This is a wonderful charity with all monies going directly to the families of children directly affected by a cancer diagnosis. A charity close to the heart of the late Billy Coulter, your support will help us preserve his legacy and provide support for children suffering from an unimaginable diagnosis. Thank you for your donation, and thank you for your continued support!
I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to run the 2021 Boston Marathon in support of Cops For Kids With Cancer. This will be my 3rd marathon. All of the money raised will help families that need help during very difficult times. I appreciate everyone’s support and encouragement!
Hello supporters, I’m pleased to announce that I have been selected to run the 2021 Boston Marathon on behalf of the Cops For Kids with Cancer charity group through the Massachusetts State Police. This charity helps relieve some of the financial burden that struggling families of children with cancer face. I am honored to have this opportunity, and I need your help to reach my fundraising goal for this great cause. Thanks in advance for your support!
I’m proud to be a member of the team and have seen how much good this organization can do. Thank you for your support as we endeavor to help those impacted by this illness. The Boston Marathon has consistently proved that the things which unite us are greater than the things which divide us. Thank you again!
I am looking forward to running this year’s Boston Marathon and I appreciate your support.

I am so exciting to be running my 12th Boston Marathon on October 11, 2021 in memory of DLT Billy Coulter that benefits Cops For Kids With Cancer!! From Boston to the Dopey Challenge Billy always had words of wisdom for any runner that would listen!!
I’m running in honor of Ironman Bill Coulter, who was my inspiration for the last 10 Boston Marathons, among many other things. He was a hero to myself and many others. It was an honor to be associated with him and the Boston Marathon group that he has assembled over the years.
This year I’ll be running the Boston Marathon for my second time with the Cops For Kids With Cancer organization. This year is especially important to me as the State Police family has lost a rock in our foundation. Billy Coulter was a friend of mine and inspired me to run the Boston Marathon in 2019. His legacy lives on and I’m hoping he can lend me his motivation (and legs) for the upcoming training that needs to be done. I take a lot of pride in running for this organization and especially with Billy looking over us this year. God bless
Hello. I am very lucky to be part of a great marathon team and an even better charity. This will be my 10th Boston Marathon and I’ve been fortunate to have been so inspired by Bill Coulter. His spirit remains with us and the charity has helped so many children who are bravely fighting difficult circumstances. Any amount of contribution will be truly appreciated and used to help a wonderful cause. Thank you for your support, Ed.
I will be racing in honor of fellow Ironman DLT Coulter. It was an honor to be able to talk to him about his Ironman experiences. I’ll be running for cops for kids with cancer, a charity that meant so much to him. Thanks for your support!

This year to commemorate my 25th consecutive Boston and again to honor Billy, Katie and I have set a goal to raise $5,000.00, which represents $200.00 for each Boston Marathon run. Every little bit helps, so please consider donating to the charity of which Billy was such a big part.

On Monday, October 11, 2021, I will be running in the 125th Boston Marathon. This year my daughter, Rachael, will be running with me again. This will be my 19th marathon, my 11th Boston Marathon, and Rachael’s 2nd marathon. Since 2013, members of the Everett Police Department have run in the Boston Marathon and raised over $100,000 for Cops for Kids with Cancer, a 501c3 non-profit charity.
